So today I was riding in the car with one of the students from my youth group and the song "Stronger Woman" by Jewel came on the radio.
The girl I was riding with was like, "Oh, I love this song!" I asked her why and she said, "It just makes me want to be a better person." Hmmm...she picked the wrong person to say that to. I ended up preaching for like the next 10 minutes. I was like, "Ok! Let's talk about these lyrics!"
I'm gonna love myself more than anyone else ("But realize this, that in the last days, difficult times will come, for men will be lovers of self...holding to a form of godliness, although having denied its power..." 1 Tim. 3:1-5)
Believe in me, even if someone cannot see ("Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding..." Prov. 3:5)
Theres a stronger woman in me
I'm gonna be my own best friend
Stay with me til the end
Wont lose myself again, never, no! (""For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it." Matt. 16:25)
Cause there's a stronger woman
A stronger woman in me
It's crazy how something can sound so sweet to our ears and make us feel so empowered...but at the same time completely contridicts God's Word. It challenged me (and hopeful this younger woman) to really know the Word of God.
Jeremiah 17:5-8
This is what the Lord says: "Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord. He will be like a bush in the wastelands; he will not see prosperity when it comes. He will dwell in the parched places of the desert, in a salt land where no one lives.
But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit."

Russo,
That's awesome to see you still in love with the Word. I hope all is well with you in San Angelo!
